Special Ropeways

Special ropeways and customized solutions are a highlight in REISCH ropeway construction. REISCH special ropeways are in use worldwide with various functions including person transport, material transport or as emergency rescue transport. For example, many self propelled emergency rescue vehicles are used in various cable car systems for the trouble free rescue of guests – some without even having to disembark the cabin. As well as this, REISCH also offers special systems for reversible ropeways.

Special material and passenger ropeways from REISCH are also used aside from tourism in various forms. Offered are systems from self propelled on a carrying rope to detachable circulating funiculars. Material and passenger ropeways of completely different type and size are designed and constructed to meet exactly the customer’s requirements. We offer the ideal supplement for large ropeway manufacturers.

Special features of the REISCH Special Ropeways

  • Our own internal engineering department: Short distances and time between design, development and construction
  • Consequential usage of many years experience > visible technical advancement
  • Various possibilities within our own manufacture, also with large components and systems
  • Flexible and quick realisation of special solutions

We present you here with various examples of our realised special ropeway projects:

Inclinded Funicular

REISCH was contracted to connect a new production plant on a hill to an existing factory. The commissioning in planned for 2012.

The illustrations show the actual (!) first concept from the project: Payload 2,5 Tons, Length 60 m, also planned for personnel transport.

Emergency rescue vehicle for a large reversible cable car at the Lünersee (Vorarlberg).

The rescue unit is driven by two hydraulic drive units (each with a combustion engine, hyd. Pump and hyd. motor), the drive unit is fail safe.

Main Data: Payload 10 People, Own weight 2,5 Tons, Gradient 40° (85%), Travel Speed up to 1,6m/sec, Drive unit 52 kW (2x 26 kW), Carrying rope diameter 63mm

Implemented: 2011

Bicycle Rope Ferry over the Fulda

Rope ferry over the River Fulda (GER)

The already existing bicycle tracks between the councils Malsfeld and Morschen have been connected cost effectively, with the here shown, manually driven „bicycle riders bridge“. This special, yet simple ropeway has been manufactured to meet the European ropeway regulations (EU- Regulation 2000/9/EG).

Plus point: The cost for the originally planned solution for a conventional bicycle bridge would have been 8 times more expensive.

Commissioned 2009

Emergency Towing Rescue Vehicle

This self-propelled rescue vehicle is a further development of our own rescue program which find repeated use around the world.

With this new rescue system, the fully occupied cabin (8-MGD) with a total weight of about 1.300kg can be incorporated onto the rescue car and towed to a secured disembarkation point. Consequently the people can be simply, quickly, comfortably and extremely safely rescued.

Implemented in 2007 to 2009

Data from the ropeway project in Madeira:

  • Length of the ropeway: 400m by a middle gradient of 90%
  • Height difference: 250m
  • Payload: 6 People, max. 500kg
  • Travel speed: 3,0 m/sec
  • Travel time: 3 Min.
  • Power - Main Drive 30 kW

Implemented 2005

Ropeway on Madeira Island

This passenger ropeway was commissioned in 2001. The ropeway enables the inhabitants of the village Achadas da Cruz to reach their gardens quickly. Previously they were only able to reach their agricultural land which lays directly by the ocean, over a dangerous walk way.

Material Ropeway with Personnel Transport for the provisioning of a tunnel drilling machine (Kaprun)

This ropeway was designed in the first instance to supply a tunnel drilling machine. At the same time workers are transported in the cabin. Special features: The machine moves continuously by a distance of about 2m with the use of a hydraulically driven rope clamping unit. The unit contains bearings and rope wedge clamps.

Data pertaining to the Material Ropeway at Kaprun

  • Altitude difference: around 656m
  • Track Length: around 20m up to 960m
